Minister of Cultural Heritage and Activities of Italy Dario Franceschini called for the immediate inclusion of the city of Odessa in the UNESCO World Heritage List, as, in his opinion, it is "threatened with destruction," Report informs citing TASS.
"We must act immediately so that Odessa is declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site for Humanity. Odessa is a beautiful city whose history is connected with Italy, and today it is in danger of destruction," said the minister, who spoke via video link with the mayor of Odessa, Gennadiy Trukhanov.
Earlier, Franceschini said that Italy would help restore the theater in Mariupol.
