Several opposition MPs in the Georgian Parliament propose to celebrate Victory Day on May 8 instead of May 9, the Georgian bureau of Report informs.
In this regard, the parliamentarians have prepared a draft amendment to the Labor Code.
Thus, Victory Day is celebrated on May 9 in Russia and post-Soviet countries, including Georgia, after the collapse of the Soviet Union. In the UK, the US, France, Germany, the Czech Republic and other countries, it is celebrated on May 8.
The authors of the project propose to declare May 8 as a non-working day.
The amendments will be presented at a meeting of the Bureau of the Legislative Assembly on April 18.
