WSJ: US strikes Iran's Qeshm Island

The US military has struck Iran's Qeshm Island, located in the Strait of Hormuz, according to US officials who spoke to The Wall Street Journal (WSJ), Report informs.

According to the officials, the US has been carrying out limited strikes on Iranian territory over the past several weeks. Some members of the US administration have described the actions as defensive measures aimed at preventing potential attacks on commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.

It was noted that Washington is deliberately withholding information about these operations to avoid creating the impression that it intends to resume large-scale military operations against Iran.

Qeshm Island is home to an underground missile complex and a naval base. The area has previously been targeted by US strikes.

Earlier, Iranian media also reported that explosions had been heard on Qeshm Island, that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) had seized two US reconnaissance drones, and that it had shot down another drone.
