UN Secretary General António Guterres warned that the next version of COVID-19 could be worse than the omicron and the world community must go into emergency mode to fight the pandemic.
Report informs citing RIA Novosti that Guterres said this at a meeting of the General Assembly, speaking about the priorities of the international organization in 2022.
"We must go into emergency mode in the fight against COVID-19. Omicron is another warning. The next variant could be worse," he said.
The UN Secretary General added that stopping the spread of the virus around the world should remain on the agenda in the coming year.
