In 2020, global military spending rose to about USD 2 trillion, said Izumi Nakamitsu, Under-Secretary-General and High Representative for Disarmament Affairs, Report informs.
According to her, the growing hostility between states in the international arena has led to a high risk of using nuclear weapons.
"Not only nuclear weapons but also conventional weapons continue to be a threat to peace. Compared to 2019, global military spending has increased by 2.6% to USD 2 trillion in 2020," Izumi Nakamitsu said.
