Italian Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio has warned of tens of thousands of African migrants in Europe if the food security problem is not addressed, Report informs citing ANSA.
"In terms of food security, if we don't intervene as soon as possible, we will get tens of thousands more migrants from Africa to Europe. We supported an attempt at dialogue in Turkiye, but it does not seem to lead to immediate results. I believe that we need collective UN-led action," Di Maio said.
The Italian foreign minister added that "food security is not a problem for European countries." He believes the problem with grain blocked in ports "may provoke new coups in Africa, the spread of terrorist organizations and migration."
