The energy ministers of the European Union (EU) countries have agreed to withdraw from the gas deals with Russia, reads the statement of the European Commission on the results of the informal meeting held in Brussels, Report informs, citing the foreign media sources.
As noted, the deals allowed buying at least 15% or 13.5 billion cubic meters of natural gas from Russia.
According to the statement, the new rules will enable EU member states and their energy companies to jointly buy gas on global markets.
EU countries will receive 15% of the gas for storage from other sources next year.
