Finance ministers and central bank governors of the G20 countries were unable to reach agreement on a joint communiqué following their meeting in Asheville, North Carolina, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent stated, Report informs.
"I'd hoped to be able to announce a unanimous joint communiqué today," Bessent said at the presser, while stressing that the agreement from the 19 other members "shows the sheer enormity of the problem."
He explained that participants could not achieve full consensus, linking the outcome to China's stance.
The Secretary added that the final statement was prepared by Washington in its role as chair of the meeting.
