According to renewed estimates, the demining of the liberated territories of Azerbaijan may take up to 30 years, Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Elnur Mammadov said during the hearings at the UN International Court.
"In October of 2021, we told the court that in the absence of the urgent interference, it will take up to ten years to complete the demining operations to the extent that most displaced persons of Azerbaijan could return to their homes. And now, with the discovery of thousands of new mines and explosive devices, according to the renewed data, it may take around 30 years," the deputy minister said.
