Azerbaijan won Second Garabagh War due to long-term strategy, not just drones, US expert says

Azerbaijan achieved victory in the Second Garabagh War due to the implementation of a long-term strategy, rather than solely through the use of unmanned aerial vehicles, author of the book, director of the Madison Policy Forum, senior fellow at New America's Future Security Program, and distinguished military fellow at the Middle East Institute Liam Collins said at the presentation of the book "The War for Karabakh: Strategy, Technology, and Victory", Report informs.

He emphasized that there is a persistent perception that this conflict became the first armed confrontation in history whose outcome was decided by unmanned systems.

"Undoubtedly, drones played their role. However, victory in the war was the result of more than 20 years of implementing a large-scale strategy aimed at achieving a single goal - the liberation of Garabagh, as well as the creation, formation, and deployment of armed forces capable of accomplishing this task," Collins said.

It should be noted that the presentation of the book "The War for Karabakh: Strategy, Technology, and Victory" by Liam Collins and John Spencer is taking place today at the Baku Book Center. Work on the book took about two years. This publication is the first large-scale and comprehensive foreign military-analytical study dedicated to Azerbaijan's victory in the 44-day war.

The book questions the widespread belief that the victory was achieved solely through the use of drones, emphasizing the role of national potential and state-building. The work notes that the main reason for Azerbaijan's victory on the battlefield was the deep mastery of the concept of "employing modern combat systems."
