Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan intend to maintain their course toward fiscal consolidation in 2026, Report informs citing the International Monetary Fund's (IMF) October Regional Economic Outlook for the Middle East and Central Asia titled "Steering Through Uncertainty: Strengthening Resilience in Challenging Times."
"Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan are projected to maintain their focus on fiscal consolidation in 2026, with Azerbaijan continuing this course in the period beyond 2026. At the same time, in most oil-importing states of the Caucasus and Central Asia region, with the exception of Armenia, fiscal policy in 2026 is projected to be more expansionary, shifting to contractionary in 2027–2028," the fund noted.
